This is my 20th year of teaching and my fourth year at Ardrey Kell High School.
I moved to Charlotte two years ago from Asheville where I taught for fifteen years.During that decade and a half, I taught 5th, 6th, 7th, 10th, and 11th grade. I attended Florida Atlantic University for my undergraduate degree and UNCA for my certificate in teaching. I am also a National Board Certified teacher. Other accomplishments include carpentry, kitchen remodeling, furniture painting, and more. I, like you, am also a student. I have just begun my MA program in English at East Carolina University. I am known as a "half-back." I was born and "mostly" raised in MI, went to high school and college in FL, and moved to Asheville, NC about eighteen years ago. I love the mountains, but I also love the diversity of Charlotte! What do I love about teaching BESIDES all of the writing and reading? The students! The students are part of a community and I believe that together we can achieve great things! One of the best quotes from a student two years ago, "I wanted to tell you I appreciate you... Wherever you go and whatever you do if you ever need me I'll be here... As a student... You were an amazing teacher... But as a friend... I love you to death... Still cant believe you're leaving... But I'm sure our paths will cross again... I hope you didn't forget me because I surely didn't forget you... When I graduate I expect to see you front and center... If I'm lucky enough to give a speech... You'll be one of the first names I thank..." Now to the pictures: The first picture is from a cruise to the Eastern Caribbean this summer! Also pictured are my lovely sister and dear parents. The second picture is from a birthday party I attended at the Versace Mansion six years ago with one of my very best friends. Not a place that I normally frequent (a LARGE understatement), but it makes a GREAT picture :-)! The last picture is the table I made! |
MindyMy daughter, Mindy, is 23 years old and a student at CU in Boulder. She is currently working on PhD in Atmospheric Chemistry! She is spending the summer doing a field campaign for NASA and is slated to be one of the youngest individuals in the program to publish her findings.

SarahMy daughter, Sarah, is 25 years old and is studying Business at ECU as a distance learner. She and I are ran the Princess Half Marathon two years ago and it was awesome! She currently lives in Asheville where she works and takes online classes.

InterestsWhen I'm not teaching, I am usually training for some sort of race. I also love to read, play video games (I HAVE A GOLD PS4), and, when persuaded, write creatively! I LOVE the mountains and last year I sold my home in Asheville. I bought a small house near one of Charlotte's amazing greenways. After much renovations (a complete kitchen remodel), I have fallen in love with my house and its location.
